We are a proud member of the End Gun Violence Michigan coalition, a statewide alliance of survivors, students, educators, faith leaders, and advocates working together to build a safer future. This movement is powered by people—not politics—and rooted in the voices of those most impacted.

Our Story

On November 30, 2021, a student brought a semi-automatic handgun into Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan and killed four students: Hana St. Juliana, Tate Myre, Justin Shilling, and Madisyn Baldwin. Seven others, including a teacher, were shot, and nearly two thousand others were left traumatized.

In the aftermath of the shooting, Oxford survivors decided to channel their pain into purpose by forming an initiative focused on preventing all forms of gun violence in our communities. We can not change what happened to us, but we can prevent others from experiencing our pain.

We are taking action today to ensure a safe future for all Michiganders.

Meet the Team

Dylan Morris

My name is Dylan Morris (he/him), and I'm a college student studying Government and Public Health. I joined this movement to remind our legislators—both in Lansing and in Washington, D.C.—that we refuse to be complacent.

Maddie Johnson

My name is Madeline Johnson (she/her). I a full-time college student studying political science. I joined NFWT after surviving the Oxford High School shooting. My best friend, Madisyn, was killed and I am working hard to gain justice for her and all other victims of gun violence.

Olivia McMillan

My name is Olivia McMillan (she/her). I'm 20 years old, and I graduated from Oxford High School as part of the class of 2022. I joined NFWT after the Oxford shooting in 2021. I had to go on with my senior year and graduate without one of my best friends, Justin Shilling. I want to ensure that no one has to lose their loved ones to gun violence.

Lauren Jasinski

I'm Lauren Jasinski (she/her). I've been a public school educator for ten years and have taught US History, World History, US Civics, and AP Comparative Politics and Government. In November 2022, I ran and was elected to the Royal Oak Schools Board of Education. I am currently the Civics Education Specialist at the Levin Center at Wayne State University.

Sean Wilson

I’m Sean Wilson (he/him). I believe we must use the voice we’ve unfortunately been given to do anything in our reach that will prevent future gun violence in schools. As an organization, my goal for us is to enact policy change, including gun reform laws like safe storage and magazine capacity limits, as well as mental health reforms.

Ivana Natcheva

My name is Ivana Natcheva (she/her). I’m a junior at Troy Athens High School, and I’m determined to make the world a safer place for everyone. I joined NFWT because I believe in the organization’s multifaceted approach to gun violence prevention. The actions we take can lead to real and much needed political change

Brooklyn Ramey

I'm Brooklyn (she/her). I'm a senior at Bloomfield Hills High School, and I'm deeply committed to making change through gun reform. My primary goal in life is to help people; being in NFWT helps me fulfill this goal and allows me to be a part of a cause that I'm passionate about and that I know will help many people.

Emma Kaiser

My name is Emma Kaiser (she/her) and I am a senior at Charlotte High School. I am incredibly passionate about helping people and I aspire to a career in political science to enact positive change. I am dedicated to helping people and determined to end gun violence. Too many lives have been lost, we need change.

Aya Bazzoun

Hi! I’m Aya Bazzoun (she/her). I joined NFWT because I recognize that change stops and starts with us; when we stop speaking, it stops changing. This has inspired my interest in social advocacy, and wanting to bring youth demands to the table, since we are at the forefront of the future.

Cammy Kucaba

My name is Cammy Kucaba (she/her). I am a full-time college student studying political science. I joined NFWT because gun violence has taken too many lives. Reform starts with common-sense gun laws and mental healthcare access. I believe we must speak out and advocate for all people affected by gun violence.

Skylar Lemons

My name is Skylar Lemons (she/her). I joined NFWT because my best friend, Madisyn, was killed in the Oxford High School shooting. I'm hoping to help make a difference for her and all people who have been impacted by gun violence, and I’m highly determined to help ensure no one else has to lose their loved one.
